I wrote my then 7 year old granddaughter Sierra an e-mail and I knew she wouldn't understand it; but I hoped she would keep it somehow and "grow into it". When I read it later, I liked what it said and that is the almost unedited first verse; the other verses just grew from there. Sierra is now 11 – it has started. The bridge was a chance to give my take on "young people these days"; there's a lot of room for hope.
